Description

The Department of Student Financial Aid is looking to hire two Financial Aid Coordinators who will be responsible for administering benefits for veterans, including Illinois MIA/POW, ING, IVG, VA chapter 33, and ROTC scholarships. In this role, you will apply tuition and fee waivers and stipends, assist with the Monetary Award Program, and handle the receiving and processing of athletic scholarship agreements, contracts, and changes while resolving over awards

You will also handle aid cancellations, notify students of their right to appeal, process appeals when applicable, and cancel aid when necessary. Moreover, staying current on NCAA rules and regulations is essential, and you will also be expected to address financial aid inquiries over the phone and in person at the counter. 

Work Schedule: This position is full-time, requiring 37.5 hours per week. The standard work week runs from Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
    1. College coursework in any discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. Work experience coordinating office, business, or customer service/relations activities.
  2. One (1) year (12 months) of higher education, student services, or closely related experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of all federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid regulations as they apply to packaging and disbursement of financial aid, disbursement of refunds, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Knowledge of the student application process.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, and Word and other computer programs.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card.
