Position Summary:

Villanova University’s Department of Athletics is seeking an Academic Support and

UNITAS

Intern to contribute to both academic support services and

UNITAS

initiatives for student-athletes. This position will report to both the Director of

UNITAS

and the Director of Academic Support for Athletics. The intern will work closely with the Office of Academic Support for Athletics (

OAS

) to provide academic support, monitor academic progress, and contribute to student-athletes’ academic success. Additionally, the intern will assist in the development and implementation of

UNITAS

programming, supporting strategic initiatives, event planning, and student-athlete development efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in both academic services and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment within athletics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Academic Support

· Work with the Office of Academic Support for Athletics (

OAS

) staff to provide comprehensive academic support to all varsity student-athletes at Villanova University.

· Assist with providing academic support, mentoring, resources, and general assistance to student-athletes through one-on-one and small group meetings.

· Assist

OAS

advisors in monitoring student-athletes’ academic eligibility and progress towards degree.

· Prepare reports and other materials on academic status for advisors, coaches and athletics administrators.

· Assist with team meetings, recruiting presentations, workshops, events and programming.

· Promote an environment of academic integrity.

UNITAS

in Athletics & Student-Athlete Development

· Work with the

UNITAS

staff leadership team to manage strategic and operational goals.

· Assist in the development, planning, social media, website, scheduling, publication, and

advertisement of all aspects of the

UNITAS

program.

· Draft meeting agendas and minutes, event announcements, and progress updates for the

UNITAS

Leadership Committee and Student-Athlete Organizations.

· Attend

UNITAS

and student-athlete development meetings.

· Support and lead

UNITAS

affinity and ally groups.

· Assist with education, awareness, and training opportunities within athletics.

· Participate in weekly meetings and conference calls.

· Assist with programming and events for overall

UNITAS

program & Student-Athlete groups.

General

· Participate in Athletic Department and campus education, training, workshops and professional development.

· Must adhere to all Villanova University,

BIG

EAST

&

NCAA

rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree.

Strong communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail-oriented.

Must be willing to work some evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency or experience supporting and engaging with culture, climate, and impact.
