The Assistant Athletic Trainer for Women’s Basketball serves in the Department of Athletics and reports to the Senior Director of Athletic Training Services & Athletics Health Care Administrator. This position will be expected to participate as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team whose primary responsibility is to support and serve student-athletes. This position will be specifically responsible to assist in the development, implementation, continuous evaluation, and delivery of the comprehensive medical and rehabilitation services available to student-athletes on the Women’s Basketball Team, as well as all other University of Utah student-athletes.
Administer injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletic injuries and illnesses
Appropriately document the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation delivered to University of Utah student-athletes
Provide timely injury reports, injury summaries and statistics, and other medical reports as necessary
Coordinate with approved allied health care consultants, the delivery of auxiliary health care services
Coordinate all medical claims and medical insurance matters with the Administrative Manager for Athletic Training
Assist in the review, development and implementation of athletic training policies and procedures
Communicate at an appropriately high-level to team physicians, consultants, coaches, student-athletes, peers, administrators, and family
Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations, and all medical referrals to support student-athlete health and well-being
Serve as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team to include strength & conditioning, mental health, registered dietitians, and sport scientists to evaluate and support comprehensive high-performance initiatives
Assist in managing Athletic Training Facilities (includes inventory, facility and equipment maintenance, cleanliness, etc)
Collaborate with the Master of Science Athletic Training program; serve as Preceptor/Clinical Instructor
Supervise student athletic trainers
Maintain athletic training certification and state licensure through ongoing continuing education
Master’s degree required
Two (2) years post graduate experience as an athletic trainer
Demonstrated effective communication and skills
National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer
Eligible for Utah State Licensure (can be after offer has been officially accepted)
Familiarity with
NCAA
/Big12/University of Utah rules and regulations
5+ years post graduate athletic training experience
NCAA
Division 1 basketball experience
