CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Athletic Trainer provides physical therapy to and aids in the care and rehabilitation of student athletes. Assists in the organization and administration of health care services and provides for the education and counseling of athletes. The incumbent attends athletic events to provide trainer care, offers advice on preventing injuries, and coaches athletic training classes.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Directs and provides athletic training coverage and supervision of intercollegiate athletic teams, during practices, games, and strength and conditioning sessions.
2. Evaluates, prevents, and treats athletic injuries and illnesses.
3. Provides counseling and education to student athletes and takes on related administrative duties.
4. Assists with the coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions.
5. Supervises education and recruitment of student and graduate assistant athletic trainers.
6. Assists in pre-season physicals for student athletes, and coordinates completion of and compliance with medical requirements.
7. Provides detailed daily injury reports of all encounters for review by senior staff and maintains all medical records on assigned student athletes.
8. Preserves the confidentiality of student athletes’ medical charts.
9. Works with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes.
10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Experience:
