The Assistant Coach, Men’s Soccer is responsible for planning, developing and managing the operations of Chicago State’s University’s Men’s Soccer program.
• Develop programs and procedures with respect to the training and coaching of student-athletes to compete successfully while assuring their welfare;
• Assist head coach in developing coaching techniques, all team and individual player strategies;
• Assist student athletes with individual performance and provide leadership/direction for improvements;
• Adhere to all conference and NCAA rules and regulations for the sport;
• Coordinate activities for home and away matches including travel plan, inventory or equipment, etc…;
• Assist with recruiting and scouting within NCAA regulations and Chicago State University academic admissions standards, including: develop database, call potential recruits, plan and organize recruiting trips, and accurately and timely complete all paperwork associated with those efforts;
• Observe and uphold all academic standards, requirements and policies of Chicago State University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics;
• Monitor, on a regular and consistent basis, student-athletes to ensure that they are attending class, completing assignments and exams, performing to their highest academic potential, obtaining the highest grades possible, and graduating in a timely manner;
• Cooperate with the development of and strictly adhere to budgets allocated for the Men’s Soccer program;
• Participate in summer sport camps;
• Work cooperatively with the University’s Faculty Athletics Representative (“FAR”) and compliance personnel on compliance matters, including, but not limited to, audits or investigations, and NCAA rules education;
• Make recommendations with respect to the scheduling of all contests, including opponents, dates, places and times;
• Assist in fundraising activities to maximize all sources of athletically-related income for the benefit of Chicago State University’s intercollegiate athletics program; and
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Previous coaching experience at the Division I level
• Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations
• Knowledge and/or experience of the recruitment process
• Displayed success in the recruitment of student-athletes
• Ability to work with and communicate effectively with all team members and support staff
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent computer and technical skills
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the sport of soccer
• Collegiate and/or professional playing experience
• Master’s degree
• Experience establishing camps/clinics
• Three or more years of demonstrated success as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level

As a staff member within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the person assuming this position is responsible for knowledge of and compliance with institutional, conference and NCAA rules, both those general in nature and those which apply specifically to their job responsibilities. Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA rules is a condition of employment in this position.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Office and conference room settings. Environment may also encompass athletic / sport setting areas.
