Position Summary

The Assistant Coach, Women’s Ice Hockey, supports the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a nationally competitive NCAA Division I Women’s ice hockey program. Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting, student-athlete development, scouting, video analysis, program administration, and support of the academic and personal success of student-athletes. The Assistant Coach is expected to contribute to a positive team culture and ensure compliance with NCAA, WCHA, and University of Minnesota rules, policies, and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coaching and Student-Athlete Development – 35%

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting practices, skill instruction, competition preparation, and game-day coaching.
  • Provide instruction and development in technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of women’s ice hockey.
  • Support video breakdown, opponent scouting, game planning, and postgame analysis.
  • Contribute to fostering a positive team culture that promotes accountability, sportsmanship, leadership, and competitive excellence.
  • Support the academic, personal, and athletic growth of student-athletes.
