Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Coordinates the communications strategies for the assigned Tigers volleyball, softball, golf programs, and other athletic programs as needed. 
• Develops, monitors, and updates social media platforms with a strong focus on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
• Works independently to develop concepts, design, and coordinate the printing or electronic distribution of a range of public relations collateral and graphics.
• Writes and edits an array of print content including press releases, game previews, recaps, features, and other material with many pieces produced on tight deadlines. 
• Updates content and contributes toward the creative direction of the department's website, Go TigersGo.com. 
• Cultivates and maintains solid working relationships with local and national media.
• Coordinates game day communications operations including staffing for media relations, statistics, staffing, and management. Attends events as required.

• Anticipates, coordinates, and supports the requirements of broadcast television productions at home events as well as requests from broadcast television, talent, and production crews both at home and on the road.
• Performs other duties as assigned. 
   

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area and two (2) years of collegiate or professional level public relations experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with the departmental team as well as external stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to use independent judgment and to gather, manage and impart information to the media and various other internal and external audiences.
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. 
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Possess media relations skills.
• Knowledge of sporting press box procedures, techniques, facilities, and equipment.
• Ability to utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).

Must be able to comply with all Department, University, Board of Trustees, Athletic Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

The department is especially interested in candidates who have strong knowledge or understanding of social media best practices.
