| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
The Assistant Director Creative Services/Women’s Basketball Videography is responsible for Video Coverage of the University of North Carolina Women’s Basketball team. This position will lead the effort to identify the video strategies for the women’s basketball program to increase reach, assist with recruiting and promote the program to drive interest, ticket sales and revenue. It will coordinate with the Creative Services unit, the Director of Media Relations and Brand Management for Women’s Basketball, the Women’s Basketball Director of Graphics Design, the Director of Women’s Basketball Recruiting, and others. This position will work daily with the Women’s Basketball program, covering practices, games and off-the-court features stories, and it will travel with the team to 15-20 games per year. It will be responsible for concepts and execution of all video-rated content for Women’s Basketball, meeting the established strategic goals of the team, Creative Services unit and Department. This position has the authority to coordinate video shoots, decide how content is shot, edited and produced, and assign and oversee students as needed. The position will be part of the team to develop, champion and defend Carolina Women’s Basketball branding and position in all multimedia platforms. The position will lead the creation and coordination of creative video content for use on social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other platforms. The position will play an integral role in the communications, marketing, recruiting and development efforts for the women’s basketball program. In addition to video responsibilities, the Assistant Director will assist in photography services, as needed. It will advise the Women’s Basketball program and Women’s Basketball Brand Management group on video and content trends surrounding women’s basketball in order to better innovate and execute content.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ability to be an inventive, imaginative, original content creator who can distill stories and bring them to life through video.
Must exercise independent judgement and discretion about appropriate content for the Women’s Basketball program and be able to independently execute this vision. Must be able collaborate and create appropriate content that meets departmental goals.
Requires a professional level knowledge of non-linear editing programs such as Adobe Premiere. Knowledge of other graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe AfterEffects and other applicable Adobe Creative Suite platforms are required.
Must have intimate knowledge of professional video production. This includes expert knowledge of high-end digital video and still photo acquisition (DSLR, 4K, high frame rate, etc). Expert knowledge of planning and execution of video and photo shoots (lighting, framing, audio acquisition). Expert video and still photo editor. Knowledge of encoding and social media distribution. Creativity is crucial for the building of all projects. Products need to be motivating, invigorating and aspirational for viewers. The ability to create elements that are original and special is essential. Management of student assistants may be required.
Position requires the ability to work many long hours, especially during the Women’s Basketball season from September through April. Travel with the team is required during the season.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in college athletics content creation at the Division I level. This experience would include video content acquisition and editing, still and motion graphics creation and social media distribution expertise.
Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA, ACC and institutional rules that relate to this position.

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Ability to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. Attention to detail essential. Ability to navigate stairs. Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume environment. Ability to travel. Long hours, night and weekend required as needed.
