Assistant Football Coach-Special Teams Coordinator

The Assistant Football Coach-Coach-Special Teams Coordinator serves in all phases of a competitive football program in accordance with University of the Incarnate Word, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The Assistant Football Coach-Coach-Special Teams Coordinator reports to Head Football Coach.

- Coach/teach student-athletes to the best of the athlete’s ability.
- Enhance the personal development of student-athletes, both academically and athletically.
- Aid the Defensive Coordinator in running the day-to-day activities of the defense.
- Assist in design and implementation of training programs.
- Analyze films and review with the student-athletes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Must exhibit good judgement in advising and counseling student-athletes, adjusting to the ever-changing culture.
- Ability to identify and participate in resolution of departmental/ institutional problems with continuous quality improvement as a goal.
- Ability to enhance team effectiveness through dependability and positive influences.
- Ability to consistently follow the mission of the university.
- Ability to effectively build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, former players, faculty alumni and staff.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Bachelor’s Degree.

| Required Work Experience |
Three (3) years of coaching experience at college or professional level. Note that said experience at the graduate-assistant level will be considered.

| Preferred Qualifications |
Five (5) years of D1 or NFL experience in coaching secondary positions.
|
| Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations |
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

| Work Hours |
Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility; extended hours as required, including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on team schedule.
|
| Physical Demands |
- Ability to lift equipment, tools, and/or materials weighing up to 25 pounds waist high.
- Ability to effectively move about to appropriately demonstrate plays and drills in this sport, as well as sideline coach during games.
