Description

BASIC FUNCTION : Reporting to the Director of Golf, the Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting in ensuring the program’s success as it relates to the skill development and performance of the student-athletes, as well as the recruitment, retention, and conduct of the student-athletes. Hofstra University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Coastal Athletic Association, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the part-time position of Assistant Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach. This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate. Candidates must be willing and able to organize and handle all aspects of administration and adhere to the rules and regulations of Hofstra University, Hofstra Athletics, the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), and the NCAA.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assists with the player development as it relates to proper technique, advanced skill instruction, and competition strategy.
• Assists with evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes.
• Evaluates the performance, conduct, and abilities of individuals and groups as assigned by the Director of Golf.
• Assists, develops, and participates in program planning, contest preparation, practice sessions, game day activities, and the coordination of game and practice schedules.
• Monitors and assists in areas as assigned including strength and conditioning, recruitment, academic enhancement, equipment, financial planning and budgeting, purchasing, and fundraising.
• Participates in public relations activities and community outreach programs as well as marketing and development initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant coaching experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

● Collegiate coaching experience.

● Collegiate cross country/track experience.

● Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.

Salary/Salary Range

$20,000-$21,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.

*Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
