Assistant Coach
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach provides assistance in all phases of coaching UWM Men’s Basketball program including: student-athlete recruitment, game preparation, player evaluation, academic coordination and practice and game coaching. The Assistant Coach may also provide administrative support as assigned.
Under the direction of the Head Coach and in accordance with all NCAA,
Conference, State and Institutional rules and regulations this position will
assist in the recruitment of student-athletes; practice and game planning;
player skill development; scouting of opponents; community relations;
office management and promotional activities. This list is not all-inclusive
as other duties may be assigned by the head coach.
This individual must know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies,
rules and regulations governing University and its employees, and the
rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ("NCAA") and the
applicable Conference, as now constituted or as they may be amended
during the Term of employment. Employee shall take all reasonable steps
to endeavor to ensure that all any employees for whom Employee is
administratively responsible, comply with aforesaid policies, rules, and
regulations.
Participate in promotional and public relations to advance athletic programs by:
Assisting the head coach in coordinating fund-raising and community service activities.
Providing leadership and direction to the program’s community service activities.
Assisting in the development and implementation of marketing strategies designed to enhance the image and visibility of the men’s basketball program.
Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:
Building effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.
Assist in all aspects of the student-athlete development and performance of the men’s basketball program, to include:
Assist in organizing and implementing the recruitment process.
Instructing and supervising daily drills, workout sessions.
Scouting opponents.
Organizing and leading preseason and off-season conditioning.
Creating a positive and productive environment for the student-athletes.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Assist with administrative functions with the men’s basketball program:

Commensurate with Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 5 years coaching at the collegiate level
Master’s Degree
At least 10 years coaching at any level
Demonstrated Practice Planning Experience
Demonstrated experience evaluating potential recruits
Evidence of experience in coordinating the recruitment of qualified student athletes
Demonstrated Athlete Skill Development
Experience analyzing opponent game footage and/or player scouting reports
Evidence of an understanding of NCAA Rules
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population
