POSITION SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for men and women student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program under the supervision of the Director of Sports Performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the day-to-day management of the sports performance program within Duquesne University, the A10 Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Provides daily oversight of sports performance programming, and supports coach and student athlete competitive excellence.
Serves as coordinator for designated sports: teaches, demonstrates, and supervises proper techniques for strength, speed, conditioning, agility, and flexibility exercise within the program, while maintaining a safe training environment.
Supports and advances to the Sports Performance team’s commitment to evidence-based principles of athletic development.
Serves as fuel station coordinator, responsible for ordering of inventory, stocking, and maintenance of facility. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, or related degree from an accredited institution.
Experience in the development and management of sport-specific individual and group strength and conditioning programs for men and women.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Current certification in CPR/AED
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in Sports Performance, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Science, Athletic Administration, or related field from an accredited institution.
Additional Certifications such as USAW, CES, PES, FMS, etc. a plus
1-2 years of NCAA strength and conditioning experience.
Experience and understanding of an integrated high performance model
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Ability to teach, demonstrate, and supervise proper techniques for strength, speed, conditioning, agility, and flexibility exercises within the program, while maintaining a safe training environment.
Strong organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Scope of the position requires the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various physical strength exercises and assist other performing those exercises.
Excellent communication skills.
Supervisory and management skills required.
