Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Associate Athletic Director, Compliance on the Dahlonega campus. The Associate Athletic Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of the University's NCAA Division II compliance program and student-athlete services operations. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director, this position is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with NCAA, conference and university regulations while proactively managing risk, promoting education and implementing consistent policies across all athletic programs. In response to the increasingly complex and evolving regulatory environment, this role requires a high-caliber professional capable of providing proactive leadership rather than reactive oversight. The Associate AD will serve as a key advisor to athletics leadership, coaches and campus partners on compliance-related matters and student-athlete eligibility and academic success. Day to day job responsibilities require cell phone for frequent response to urgent UNG business at any time of the day or night.

Responsibilities

Compliance Program Administration & Monitoring - Direct and administer all components of the NCAA, conference, and institutional compliance program, including monitoring of eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, amateurism, and playing and practice seasons. Develop, implement, and regularly update policies and procedures to ensure consistent institutional practices.
Regulatory Leadership & Risk Management - Provide proactive leadership in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risk in an increasingly complex and evolving regulatory environment. Monitor legislative changes and interpret new rules to guide institutional decision-making.
Compliance Education & Culture Development - Design, implement, and deliver comprehensive compliance education programs for coaches, staff, student-athletes, campus partners, and athletics representatives. Promote a culture of shared responsibility, accountability, and rules education.
Student-Athlete Services & Eligibility Oversight - Coordinate and oversee student-athlete services, including academic monitoring, eligibility certification, and progress-toward-degree processes. Lead the final certification team in collaboration with Financial Aid, the Registrar, FAR, and coaching staff.
Financial Aid & NLI Administration - Oversee compliance related to athletically related financial aid and administer the National Letter of Intent program. Work collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid and coaching staff to ensure accurate documentation, timelines, and regulatory compliance.
Investigation, Waiver & External Reporting - Conduct and manage investigations of alleged or known rules violations, prepare waiver and reinstatement requests, and coordinate institutional responses. Serve as the primary liaison with the NCAA and conference office and oversee related correspondence and reporting.
Leadership, Systems & Strategic Support - Serve as a senior member of the athletics leadership team by advising department administrators on compliance strategy, risk management, and best practices. Supervise assigned staff, maintain institutional compliance systems and records, and contribute to long-term departmental planning and effectiveness.
Performs other duties as assigned by Sr. Associate AD or Director of Athletics

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Extensive knowledge of NCAA, compliance operations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, organization and problem solving skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies.
High attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to student-athlete welfare, academic success and institutional integrity.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of five (5) years athletic administration or legal experience.
Significant professional experience in intercollegiate athletics compliance or administrative functions.
Demonstrated experience managing NCAA compliance programs.
Experience with Compliance Assistant (CA), Legislative Services Database (LSDBi), Teamworks, Banner and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferred.
Legal training or experience in regulaory, compliance or higher education law environments.
Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role within athletics administration.
Experience working in Division II athletics.
