Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Associate Athletic Trainer II is responsible for the comprehensive prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. You will manage medical records, coordinate clinic appointments, maintain emergency equipment, and instruct students clinically within our Athletic Training Education Program.

  • Assist in all aspects of prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for approximately 390 student-athletes. Develop and administer rehabilitation programs, attend practices and athletic events, provide emergency medical coverage, and travel with teams as needed.
  • Maintain updated files and accurate medical records of athletic injuries, medical insurance, medical history, injury referrals, conditioning programs, schedules, and other necessary data.
  • Assist in program development, including coordinating athletic training center operations; coordinate or assign other athletic trainers and provide direction and training to less experienced athletic trainers, interns or students; act as Facility Manager for the Satellite Sports Medicine Center.
  • Coordinate clinical and physician appointments between the athlete and SHC or outside referral. Inform coaching staff and other healthcare professionals regarding injury status and treatment plans.
  • Maintain monthly maintenance of emergency equipment to ensure proper function; coordinate bi-annual emergency action plan drills with sports medicine staff and the Department of Police Services.
  • Maintain an effective inventory control system for assigned supplies and equipment; order supplies and equipment for the Sports Medicine Department.
  • Provide clinical instruction to Kinesiology Athletic Education Program students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
