Departmental Overview The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 300 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 900 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). Position Summary The Cameron Institute Associate Chief of Staff & Student-Athlete Development Generalist within the Cameron Institute for Student-Athlete Development (the Cameron Institute) will provide administrative and programmatic support for the Cameron Institute, the Director of the Cameron Institute, and support each unit within the organization. The role will also have a Student-Athlete Development oversight of select initiatives, including the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Student-Athlete Led Organizations (SALOs), which have a community engagement lens. Responsibilities Serve as the primary administrative support to Cameron Institute Leadership team, handling written and email correspondence, scheduling, alumni communication, and recruiting efforts. Provide direct support to the Director in her capacity as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), including coordinating communications, initiatives, and projects that advance the student-athlete experience across Intercollegiate Athletics. Manage internal communications across the Athletics Department, including with Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches. Coordinate and manage event production activities (agendas, scheduling, logistics) for the Retreat, Advisory Board meetings, networking events, and other Intercollegiate Athletics programs. Prepare agendas, presentations, briefings, and bios in advance of sessions; provide on-site event assistance and post-event follow-up reports. Oversee people and culture processes, including on-campus interviews, onboarding/off-boarding, signage, credentials, gear, purchasing, travel, and reimbursements for staff, student-athletes, and alumni. Lead office management and facilities coordination, including maintenance and organization of brick and mortar office space, purchasing, and organizing the Google Drive and other digital systems to improve staff efficiency. Coordinate all external-facing media for the Cameron Institute (website maintenance, annual report, Instagram, Teamworks, Retain, Linktree, videos/promotional materials, Golden Bear Network, Calm, and marketing collateral). Provide administrative and communication support to the Directors of each unit (three total). Coordinate follow-up correspondence with alumni, professionals, and donors; manage the Cameron Institute email inbox. Update data and analytic dashboards, Helper Helper, Calm app files, Retain; track completion of the California Way Reflection, and other related data projects. Provide event support and assist with special projects spanning career development and community engagement initiatives. Serve as the co-primary advisor for Cal SAAC, and primary advisory and administrative lead for SALOs. Provide holistic leadership advising, administrative, and project management support for the SAAC Executive Board and representatives to ensure the organization is inclusive, reflective, and effective in achieving its goals: representing student-athletes’ voices, building and enhancing community within Cal Athletics, and contributing to community beyond Cal Athletics.. Collaborate closely with the career development team including supporting panels, outings, networking and software maintenence. Develop and steward partnerships between the Cameron Institute for Student-Athlete Development, Intercollegiate Athletics, and other aligned campus units. Prepare student-athletes for speaking engagements, organize opportunities within Cal Athletics, UC Berkeley, the ACC, and the NCAA, and identify candidates for these opportunities. Support end-to-end registration, renewal, and advising of SALOs. Engage in professional development and perform additional responsibilities as needed. Required Qualifications  Thorough knowledge of program activity and best practices. Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties. Exceptional skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni/donors, students and external constituencies, both verbally and in writing.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills particularly in a professional service-oriented environment. Ability to manage a high volume of work in a high-pressure situation with demanding timeframes. Exceptional project management and organizational skills, including responding to inquiries and/or requests in a timely manner.  Ability to analyze, create, and deliver on professional processes. Strong skills in analyses and complex problem-solving. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to serve as the first point of contact for donors, alumni, and other constituents. Experience in scheduling and securing appointments with external constituents.  Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to perform database research and analysis of the information.  Ability to produce materials and activities for high-level events. Ability to work overtime and/or weekends when necessary to assist with meetings or events. Knowledge of student-athlete development operations. Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of campus, the community, and external constituencies. Strong service orientation. Experience with or the ability to process travel reimbursements including experience working with accounting/financial systems to submit/track requests. Knowledge of and/or can quickly learn campus and department business procedures. Student-centered, inclusive, and culturally sensitive advising and counseling skills. Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.  Familiarity with and/or can quickly learn campus processes, protocols and procedures.  Knowledge of federal regulations such as FERPA and HIPPA. Advanced knowledge of modern office hardware (computers, printers, projectors, phones, etc.) and software including the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, & Power Point) and other databases (Qualtrics, etc.). Must maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards regulations of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the Berkeley campus of the University of California adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards. Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.  The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $78,930.91 (Step 1) - $85,438.45 (Step 5).
