Saint Leo University is a Division II university located just north of Tampa and is part of the Sunshine State Conference. We are seeking applications for a full time 10-month athletic trainer. Sport oversight responsibilities: TBD. Candidate must be available to work nights and weekends as well as travel with teams. The position is anticipated to begin on 7/28/2025.

DUTIES AND TASKS:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Work under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine.
• Follow the medical guidelines provided by the Team Physicians.
• Plan, coordinate, organize and manage the daily treatment, rehabilitation and injury evaluations for Saint Leo student-athletes, emphasizing prevention of athletic injuries.
• Maintain accurate and updated documentation of all injuries and general medical incidents using the Sportsware record-keeping system; including initial SOAP notes, daily progress notes, treatment records, rehabilitation programs, and appointment logs.
• Be knowledgeable of and enforce all Saint Leo Sports Medicine/Athletics policies and procedures including but not limited to drug and substance abuse, mental health, concussion management, lightning, heat illness, nutrition and supplements, and catastrophic incidents.

• Plan, coordinate, organize and manage the daily treatment, rehabilitation and injury evaluations for Saint Leo student-athletes, emphasizing prevention of athletic injuries.
• Maintain accurate and updated documentation of all injuries and general medical incidents using the Sportsware record-keeping system; including initial SOAP notes, daily progress notes, treatment records, rehabilitation programs, and appointment logs.
• Be knowledgeable of and enforce all Saint Leo Sports Medicine/Athletics policies and procedures including but not limited to drug and substance abuse, mental health, concussion management, lightning, heat illness, nutrition and supplements, and catastrophic incidents.
• Be knowledgeable of the medical emergency action plan for all assigned venues and ensure that the appropriate emergency equipment is available at each event.
• Maintain a positive report and relationship with the athletic department staff, student-athletes, and college faculty/staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree in athletic training preferred from an accredited institution in athletic training
• Eligible for Florida State Licensure
• Certified by Board of Certification (BOC)
• Basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers

Skills:

• Care and prevention of injuries.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent record keeping.
• Basic knowledge and use of Microsoft Office
