Position Overview

| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the overall administration of the athletic training program. Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation; maintaining accurate medical records, practice and game coverage, including travel; pre-participation evaluations; coordinating medical insurance claims; and supervising student athletic trainers and volunteers. Additional duties may be assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. | | Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Sports Medicine unit at NC A&T State University exists to provide student-athletes with an opportunity to participate in intercollegiate athletics in the safest and healthiest manner possible. Our staff of certified athletic trainers and team physicians are responsible for the wellness of approximately 300 student-athletes. The NC A&T State University Sports Medicine Staff commits itself to providing personalized, comprehensive, contemporary, and effective health care that focuses on the student-athlete. Treatment of injuries and illnesses will be based on sound medical and rehabilitative principles in conjunction with consideration of personal and team goals. | | Minimum Requirements |
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training. Must be BOC certified and possess NC athletic training licensure (or be eligible for licensure). 1-3 years of certified experience; Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Experience at the collegiate level preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel required. Medium strength is required to position student-athletes for examination. May assist student-athletes as needed, helping them on and off the exam table. Must successfully pass a background screening. Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to/from work.
