The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking candidates for two (2) athletic trainer positions. Under the general supervision of Team Physicians and Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, provide athletic training services that lead to screening for preventative programs, treatment, rehabilitation and referral of student-athletes to Team Physicians.
One position provides and directs athletic training services for Softball and a second position will provide and direct athletic training services for Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving in an integrated environment of all intercollegiate sports according to Departmental policy, Big Ten and NCAA rules. Both positions will also play a role in coordinating health services for Badger Sport Camps. Key interactions are with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Team Physicians, Director of Camps, the coaches and the student athletes in the performance of duties. An ability to work with diverse cultures and personalities is required as well as a desire to interact in a team approach with other staff members and medical professionals.
Specific tasks will include: Evaluating patients and screening for referral to orthopedic and primary care sports medicine clinics; Performing illness and post-injury evaluation of student-athletes according to physician protocol for referral to appropriate physicians' clinics; Following instructions for injury recovery by Team Physicians to make return to play decisions; Documenting patient interactions into electronic health record; Providing injury/illness updates to the coaching staff on the activity status of each player to assure safety in practice and competition; Preparing practice and competition sites for emergency treatment and safety measures; Working with Athletic Training Education Program students and serving as a clinical preceptor; Being familiar with Departmental Emergency Plan for practice and competition and be prepared to initiate during practice and competition as well as provide CPR/AED and on field extrication; Monitoring environmental conditions to insure safety of student-athletes during practice and competition; Attending and serving as an athletic trainer in a physician clinic as assigned; Communicating all pertinent information regarding student athlete injury or illness status to team physicians for determination of safety in practice and competition; coordination of health services for Badger Sport Camps and performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included. Anticipated start date on or after May 26, 2025.
