The University of Virginia Athletics Department is hiring a postdoctoral fellow for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. The fellowship is a full-time, 12-month position beginning August 1, 2026, and ending July 31, 2027, with an earlier 12-month start and end date being negotiable. Supervision will be provided by two full-time licensed clinical sport psychologists embedded within UVA Athletics, who, along with a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provide confidential mental health and sports performance services to over 750 student-athletes from 25 Division-I teams.
The LPC will also play an active role in the postdoctoral fellow’s professional growth and skill development. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for providing mental health and performance services to D-I varsity student-athletes and will have the opportunity to conduct individual counseling and sports performance work, team meetings, consultation with staff, crisis management, and participation in coordination of care with multidisciplinary treatment team members. Additional opportunities for specialized training in disordered eating behavior, eating disorders, body image concerns, and management of and return to competition issues in cases of concussions and other injuries will be available based on postdoctoral fellow's previous experience and interest areas. Conducting brief research proposals on utilization patterns, stigma and other barriers, and intervention and educational outcomes is also possible.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited Counseling or Clinical Psychology program prior to fellowship start date, plus the completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship.
