Summary The Certified Sports Dietitian functions are to provide comprehensive nutritional services to a diverse population in the Tulane Center for Sport. The dietitian will also provide support to Tulane University Athletics as well as community and campus partners. Involves education and outreach to enhance health and support success to all clients. Provide nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy to high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, with an emphasis on eating disorder treatment, sports nutrition, weight management and prevention and management of chronic disease.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Oral and written communication skills that can contribute to effective collaboration with patients/faculty/staff. High level of organizational skills and proven record of delivering quality results in a timely manner Ability to manage projects and deliver results. Ability to successfully work with a diverse population and provide services from a non-judgmental perspective. Proficient computer skills; working knowledge of electronic medical records software applications. Ability to effectively provide clinical nutrition counseling to patients with other medical and/or psychological challenges. Ability to provide exemplary patient care and customer service including maintaining confidentiality and being reliably available to patients when they seek care or advice. Required Education and/or Experience Master's degree from a US regionally accredited university or college in the fields of human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management to include coursework accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Clinical nutrition and preventive care counseling experience. Completed ACEND-accredited supervised practice program at a health-care facility, community agency, or a food service corporation or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies. Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR). Licensure to practice as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in the State of Louisiana Preferred Qualifications
