Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Chief of Staff – Men’s Basketball. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Chief of Staff – Men’s Basketball is responsible for providing administrative oversight under the direction of the Head Men’s basketball coach. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Serve as Men’s Basketball liaison with Athletics leadership on all administrative matters; Oversee office operations on behalf of the Head Coach; Oversee and assemble future scheduling and communicate with Big Ten Office; Develop annual sport budget; coordinate purchasing of all equipment and apparel; monitor expenditures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 5 years of experience working in a collegiate men’s basketball program in an administrative capacity;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards. <where applicable>
  • Working knowledge of and ability to:

    • Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
