PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Possess First Aid & CPR certificate or must obtain within 60 days from date of hire. Work flexible schedule, occasional evenings/nights, varied lunch hours, weekends and holidays.

• In accordance with UC Davis Athletics’ hiring process for coaches, UC Davis will require any head coach or assistant coach final candidate(s) to sign an authorization for a reference check. Pursuant to your signed authorization form, we will inquire with your prior institution(s) about any records of substantiated misconduct.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Additional Minimum License/Education

• Certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA); certification must be maintained.

Minimum Education/Experience

• Experience in the field of Strength & Conditioning with student-athletes in a collegiate setting.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

• Knowledge of the rules and safety requirements of strength and conditioning training. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques and safety measures for student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level.

• Knowledge of athletic injury prevention and treatment/modification protocols.

• Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred:

Additional Preferred License/Certification

• United States of America Weightlifting-Club Coach (USAW) Certification.

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, movement sciences, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Two or more years of experience in collegiate strength and conditioning.

• Experience with college basketball and football.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

• Skills to coach, teach and supervise Olympic lifts.

• Skills to schedule, supervise and evaluate student employees.

• Skill to operate a Macintosh or PC computer.
