Southern Utah University Athletics is seeking a dynamic, organized, and experienced Dance Team Head Coach to lead and develop its competitive dance program. This position is responsible for all aspects of team management, including athlete development, choreography oversight, event preparation, recruitment, travel coordination, fundraising collaboration, and program growth.

Prepare the team and attend all performances at SUU athletics events. Including, but not limited to:
Prepare the team for campus and community appearances.
Collaborate with the Cheer Team for joint performances and sideline responsibilities.
Coordinate and assist with promotional throwouts at athletic events.
Organize and execute the annual end-of-year showcase.
Operations & Administration
Design and order uniforms, costumes, and team apparel
Plan, coordinate, and purchase travel arrangements for competition and recruitment events.
Manage program budget responsibly in coordination with the Athletics Department.
Ensure compliance with university, conference, and competition regulations.
Manage the team’s social media account in coordination with the athletics marketing team.
Recruitment & Community Engagement.
Organize and execute SUU Dance Clinics.
Plan and host alumni events.
Support the university and athletics department fundraising initiatives.
Represent SUU Dance with professionalism at recruitment and promotional events.
Maintain strong communication with athletics department staff, coaches, and university leadership.
Uphold SUU and NCAA policies and standards.
Promote academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
Ensure a safe training environment for all team members.
6-12 hours of practice per week (mornings, but flexible).
Attend SUU athletics games and events (1-4 events per week).
Recruitment clinics (2 weekends per year).
Choreography Camp (one week in summer).
Nationals Competition (2-6 days, over a weekend).
End of Year Showcase (one evening).
Minimum Qualifications
At least two years of experience teaching advanced-level dancers.
Experience coaching or assisting with collegiate, studio, or competitive dance teams.
Strong background in jazz, pom, hip hop, and/or contemporary (collegiate styles preferred).
Experience choreographing or directing choreography for competitive performances.
Ability to manage budgets, scheduling, and logistics.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate dance team experience (coach or athlete).
Experience working within a university athletics department.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Experience in recruitment and program development.
This position is contingent on Funding.
