Long Island University (LIU), an NCAA DIV I institution, invites applications for the Deputy Director of Athletics for Administration and Compliance. The Deputy Director of Athletics for Administration and Compliance is a member of the LIU Athletics executive team and provides oversight of various areas as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
This position works closely with university staff and is responsible for maintaining contact with key internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this position serves as an oversight of various areas as assigned. This position is based on the Long Island University Post campus but requires an active presence at both the Post and Brooklyn campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Member of the LIU Athletics executive team.
• Oversight of various areas in athletics compliance, fundraising activities, and capital projects.
• Collaborating with the Athletics team on compliance related projects
• Develops comprehensive NCAA rules educational programs and materials for Coaches, Athletic Staff, Athletes, and Campus Constituency Meetings.
• Perform Initial Eligibility Assessments of prospective student-athletes and assist in the awarding of athletic scholarships.
• Monitor potential and proposed changes to NCAA legislation, state law, and NIL rules.
• Monitor all NIL agreements.
• Filing of waivers and contributing to various annual NCAA reports.
• Write violation self-reports and waivers and participate in the investigation of suspected rule violations.
• Process Official and Unofficial Visits
• Primary Sport Contact for several of the institution’s athletics programs.
• Sport Administration: Serves as sport administrator for assigned teams.
• Monitor Outside Competition
• Roster Management
• Staff Declarations
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; master’s degree preferred.
• 5–7 years of full–time experience working within an institution of higher education in fundraising and donor cultivation.
• Previous experience working at an NCAA Division I institution or conference office in compliance operations and student-athlete development.
• 2 years of NCAA compliance experience
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and athletic compliance procedures and regulations is essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to serve as sport administrator and/or on-sight event manager for assigned sport programs.
• Potential for work travel with teams for away/road games, donor cultivation, and community related events.
• Previous experience managing multiple staff members.
Preferred Qualifications :
Master’s degree in an applicable field.
Work Schedule:
Requires the ability to work occasional nights, weekends, and some holidays.
