Job Summary

The Director of Football Operations is responsible for the administrative and operational management of the football program. This position supports the Head Football Coach in coordinating team operations, travel logistics, recruiting visits, equipment oversight, and external relations. The Director ensures strict compliance with NCAA, conference, Texas State University System, and Lamar University rules and regulations, while supporting academic success, student-athlete welfare, and program development initiatives.

• Coordinate daily administrative functions in support of coaching staff.

Team Travel Coordination

Job Summary

Essential Job Functions

Football Program Operations & Administration

• Oversee designated operational aspects of the football program.
• Coordinate daily administrative functions in support of coaching staff.
• Maintain documentation, scheduling systems, and internal communication processes.
• Ensure operational alignment with departmental and institutional policies.
  

Team Travel Coordination

• Oversee all aspects of team travel logistics, including transportation (bus/air), hotel accommodations, meals, and equipment transport.
• Coordinate travel itineraries for team and recruiting activities.
• Serve as primary liaison with vendors to ensure cost control and logistical efficiency.
  

Recruiting Operations & External Liaison

• Coordinate official and unofficial recruiting visits, including scheduling and logistics.
• Serve as liaison to high school and junior college coaches.
• Support recruiting travel arrangements for coaching staff.
• Ensure recruiting activities comply with NCAA and conference regulations.
  

Equipment & Resource Management

• Assist with procurement and inventory control of football equipment and operational supplies.
• Coordinate with athletics equipment staff to ensure timely distribution and accountability of gear.
• Monitor operational budgets related to travel and equipment in coordination with department leadership.
  

Compliance, Academic Support & Development Activities

• Ensure strict adherence to NCAA, conference, Texas State University System, and university policies.
• Promote student-athlete academic success and support graduation initiatives.
• Participate in community engagement, fundraising, and development activities in coordination with the Athletics Director and coaching staff.
  

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Experience in collegiate athletics, athletics administration, or a related environment.
• Demonstrated organizational and logistical coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced athletics setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  

Desired Qualifications: - Master’s degree from an accredited institution. - One to two years of NCAA Division I athletics experience. - Prior experience in football operations or program administration. - Knowledge of Banner, Cardinal Purch and Chrome River, or similar ERP programs experience.

Physical Requirements - Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. - Ability to travel with the team. - Ability to move and transport materials and equipment associated with football operations as needed.

Job Conditions: Ability to travel extensively and work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons. Work is performed in office, athletic facility, and outdoor environments.
