Leads and administers the recruiting department, implementing innovative evaluation methodologies. Collaborates with coaching staff in identifying, evaluating, and acquiring high school and transfer student-athletes using analytics, advanced scouting, and performance evaluation. Manage the program’s recruiting database, prospect identification and evaluation process, in addition to maintaining the status of scholarship offers, recruiting targets, and commitments.
Oversees recruitment campaigns and social media engagement. Engage with senior level administrators related to marketing strategies to enhance program visibility and attract top talent. Research and briefs the head coach on current trends, analytics, and innovations and ensures recruiting strategies align with the competitive landscape of the Mid-American Conference and positions the program for long-term success.
Develops and executes a long-term strategy for roster construction, balancing high school recruiting, transfers, and player retention in a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL)-influenced and transfer-portal driven marketplace, and a six-figure budget for revenue share allocations and scholarships in partner with the head coach.
Ensures the program’s alignment with university goals, NCAA, and Mid-American Conference regulations, and emerging trends in college athletics, (e.g., NIL opportunities and revenue-sharing models). Serves as the key contact between the football program, athletic administration, and the compliance department.
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Provides operational leadership and coordination for complex sports programs with significant roster, scholarship, and regulatory demands. Applies to athletic programs with complex roster management, extensive regulatory requirements, and conference-driven operational demands. Partners with coaches, Athletics Compliance, and senior athletics leadership to support roster administration, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) process coordination, transfer and eligibility workflows, and implementation of conference and NCAA requirements. Manages the NCAA transfer portal and monitors changes to NCAA regulations, with a particular focus on developments impacting the transfer portal. Roles in this sub-family are typically associated with high-complexity athletic programs and may not apply uniformly across all sports.
Responsible for the management of a unit that performs diverse but related tasks. Handles work and budget planning, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve team objectives. Contributes to divisional or departmental operational plans by aligning unit goals with broader institutional strategies. Accountable for meeting short-term objectives and driving continuous improvement.
Manages a large team or multiple teams. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.
Oversees large budgets, including departmental and program-level budgets.
Solves strategic, organizational problems and ensures continuous improvement.
High degree of autonomy in decision-making, accountable for large areas.
Collaborates with executive leadership and external partners to drive organizational goals.
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Requires a Master’s degree in a related field, 8 or more years of related professional experience, and 5 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.
