Duties and Responsibilities: This position is a part-time 10-month position in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsible for effectively working with qualified student-athletes and assisting with all aspects of the strength and conditioning program including but not limited to: coaching responsibilities, as assigned by the Head Sports performance Coach including assisting with strength and conditioning activities of all Northwestern Athletics programs by providing instruction in the uses of weight machines and conditioning equipment and assisting in tailoring workouts to the specific needs of each program or individual student-athlete.  Responsible for compliance with policies and procedures of Northwestern, the GAC, NCAA and other regulatory agencies.

The Graduate Assistant will also assist with manage the program’s equipment.  The GA is responsible for compliance with policies and procedures of the University, Great American Conference (GAC), NCAA and other regulatory agencies.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree required, with at least an overall 2.75 undergraduate GPA to be considered for admission to Graduate Studies.
  • Experience playing or coaching college athletics or in sports performance.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • The successful candidate will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Experience in strength and conditioning preferred.
  • Must be certified in First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).
  • Thorough understanding of NCAA rules compliance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Able to remain calm in situations where emotions are strained.
