As a member of the Southland Conference, LU sponsors 17 varsity sports at the NCAA Division I level. Lamar has improved its win total in football each of the past three seasons and advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2025 for just the second time in school history. Lamar University is experiencing its best run of success in school history winning the past two Southland Conference Commissioner’s Cups. Over the course of the past three seasons, LU has brought home two Commissioner’s Cups, two men’s all-sports trophies and a women’s all-sports trophy.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach is primarily responsible for the overall operation and success of the LU men’s basketball program, including developing a vision and providing principled leadership that promotes the health and well-being of student-athletes, competitive success, positive attitudes, successful outcomes, strong working relationships, a positive work environment, and a positive student-athlete experience.
