Responsible for training, mentoring, and leading Cleveland State University’s (CSU) Spirit Squad, including cheer and dance teams, ensuring members perform safely, effectively, and with high energy. Foster’s school pride, develops routines, and promotes teamwork, while serving as a positive role model for student-athletes and ambassadors of CSU. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or state recognized equivalent.
Two (2) years of coaching cheerleading, gymnastics, or dance.
Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under CSU’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferably in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, dance, sports management, or athletic training.
Experience coaching at the collegiate level.
USA Cheer, National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), National Dance Alliance (NDA), or Universal Dance Association (UDA) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules.
Knowledge of coaching, college athletics, and cheer or dance techniques.
Knowledge of CSU’s and athletics mission.
Ability to be self-motivated and driven leader must be outgoing, outspoken and team oriented.
