Job Summary:

Long Island University (LIU) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Triathlon Coach to lead and develop its NCAA varsity women’s triathlon program. The coach will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including recruiting, training, strategy, and overall program administration. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in triathlon coaching and a passion for developing student-athletes both athletically and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coaching & Training:

  • Design and implement training plans for swimming, cycling, and running.
  • Conduct structured practices and individual training sessions.
  • Develop race strategies and tactics for optimal performance in NCAA competitions.

• Recruiting & Athlete Development:

  • Identify and recruit top-tier student-athletes to LIU’s triathlon program.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
  • Monitor and support student-athletes in their academic progress and eligibility compliance.

• Program Administration:

  • Coordinate team logistics, including travel, equipment, and budget management.
  • Schedule competitions and manage relationships with race organizers and governing bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies and regulations.

• Community & Program Promotion:

  • Engage with alumni, donors, and the local community to support program growth.
  • Promote the program through social media, university events, and community outreach.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts to enhance program resources.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Proven experience in coaching triathlon, preferably at the collegiate, elite, or professional level.
• Strong understanding of endurance training principles, race preparation, and injury prevention.
• Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as necessary.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications:

• USA Triathlon (USAT) coaching certification or equivalent.
• Experience as a competitive triathlete.
• Familiarity with NCAA regulations and compliance requirements.
