Responsibilities:
• Provide overall leadership, organization, and administration of the Track
and Field and Cross-Country programs in alignment with the mission of the
university and athletics department.
• Plan, organize, and conduct practices, conditioning sessions, and
competitions for men’s and women’s track and field and cross country
student-athletes.
• Recruit quality prospective student-athletes and ensure timely submission
of admissions and eligibility documentation in accordance with NCAA and
university requirements.
• Monitor the academic progress, eligibility, and personal development of
student-athletes while promoting academic success and graduation.
• Develop training programs that enhance athletic performance, conditioning,
skill development, and injury prevention.
• Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and
support staff assigned to the programs.
• Ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, institutional, and
departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
• Coordinate team travel, competition schedules, equipment needs, and
operational logistics for practices and meets.
• Manage and administer program budgets, purchasing, and scholarship
allocations responsibly and efficiently.
• Foster discipline, sportsmanship, and positive conduct among student-
athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics department
and university.
• Promote the Track and Field and Cross-Country programs through
community engagement, fundraising activities, alumni relations, and public
appearances.
• Collaborate with athletic training, strength and conditioning, academic
support, and compliance staff to support student-athlete well-being and
success.
• Organize and oversee home meets and ensure proper game/event
management procedures are followed.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to recruiting,
eligibility, budgeting, and program operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Director of Athletics or
designee.
Physical Demands:
• May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at
desk.
• May require lifting.
• Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
• Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Preferences:
• Previous playing or coaching experience at the collegiate level.
Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Knowledge of NCAA Division I and MEAC rules and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and development of student athletes.
