 Position Linebacker Coach Division: Athletics Department: Athletics Reports to: Head Football Coach Position Summary   The Linebackers Coach is responsible for the development, training, and performance of the linebacker, which typically includes cornerbacks and safeties. This role involves teaching fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies essential for defensive players to excel in coverage, tackling, and overall defensive schemes. The coach will collaborate closely with the defensive coordinator and other coaching staff to implement effective game plans and ensure cohesive defensive operations.   Essential Duties & Responsibilities   The results you will deliver each day that matter most! Providing clinical expertise, and administrative oversight to the team of athletic trainers while collaborating closely with team physicians, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes. Also provide wellness information, maintaining records and training rehabilitation. And other duties as assigned.     Education/ Experience   What you will need to be successful!  Player Development:    - Train and mentor linebackers in fundamental skills such as throwing mechanics, footwork, decision-making, and reading defenses.    - Create individualized training programs that address the specific needs and strengths of each linebacker.   Game Preparation:    - Develop and implement practice plans that focus on improving linebacker performance.    - Analyze game film to evaluate Linebacker performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.    - Assist in the preparation of game plans, including play selection and situational strategies. Identify, evaluate, and recruit high-character student-athletes with strong IQ and physical potential.    Performance Analysis:    - Utilize video analysis tools to assess linebacker mechanics and decision-making during practices and games.    - Track and analyze individual and team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.    Collaboration:    - Work closely with the Defensive coordinator and other coaches to integrate linebacker training into the overall offensive strategy.    - Communicate effectively with other coaching staff to ensure cohesive team strategies.   Mentorship and Leadership:    - Foster a positive and competitive environment that encourages growth and development among linebackers.    - Serve as a role model and mentor to players, promoting teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic.    Recruitment and Scouting:    - Assist in scouting and evaluating potential recruits, providing insights on player potential and fit within the program. Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches and family    Administrative Duties:    - Maintain accurate records of player progress and development.    - Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding strategy and player development.   Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field (preferred). - Previous coaching experience, particularly with linebackers at high school, college, or professional level. - Strong understanding of offensive strategies and linebacker mechanics. - Experience in analyzing game films and using video analysis software.   Skills: - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong leadership abilities and the capability to motivate and inspire players. - Analytical mindset with a focus on performance metrics and improvement. - Ability to work collaboratively with other coaching staff and players.   Physical Requirements: - Ability to participate in practice and training sessions, demonstrating techniques as needed. - Capability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends during the season.   -Other duties as assigned.
