Athletics IT handles the hardware and software for FSU Athletics, Seminoles Boosters, and Seminole Productions.
The Systems Administrator will report to the Assistant Athletics Director of Technology and a core member of the Athletics Technology team. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of server infrastructure supporting FSU Athletics and Seminole Productions.
Responsible for deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle support of physical and virtual servers, including virtualization environments, cluster health, system updates, hardware diagnostics, and drive replacements as needed.
Responsible for assisting with the configuration, monitoring, and management of on-site and off-site server backups, redundancy planning, and disaster recovery readiness for supported systems, including networking and infrastructure recommendations. Responsible for developing tools, scripts, and solutions that improve efficiency, monitoring, troubleshooting, and support capabilities for Athletics IT staff.

Responsible for maintaining working operations of computer systems by performing routine maintenance and security patches, monitoring system health, troubleshooting problems, documenting issues, and providing timely diagnostic information to appropriate staff members.
Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for servers, hosted applications, internal processes, system configurations, and operational procedures. Responsible for assisting in the development, documentation, and implementation of internal IT policies, budgets, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Responsible for assisting Broadcast Engineering staff with system diagnostics and service-impacting issues during live production, including server, storage, application, and network-related troubleshooting as needed.
Responsible for advising Seminole Productions staff on server health, system lifespan, capacity planning, redundancy, and infrastructure recommendations. Responsible for working with the Athletics IT Security Manager to review, remediate, and prevent security vulnerabilities on all Athletics servers, systems, and computers. Responsible for providing desktop support to Athletics staff and assisting with Athletics event support when needed.
Position will require working nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the Florida State University Athletics schedule and may require after-hours responses and troubleshooting as determined by the Athletics IT leadership team.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position to include sitting for extended periods of time, bending, squatting, standing, crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, walking long distances, carrying/lifting 25 to 75lbs., working in confined spaces and in excessive noise and inclement weather.
Candidate must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users. Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, including issues with limited time frames or service-impacting production environments.
Knowledge of applicable computer software, operating systems, virtualization platforms, server hardware, backup systems, access control methods, and standard programming or scripting concepts used within the technology field. Ability to document existing and new processes, establish and maintain effective working relationships, prioritize multiple assignments, and interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Previous experience with hypervisor solutions such as VMware or Hyper-V. Previous experience with Winbind and Microsoft Active Directory. Previous experience maintaining server hardware, diagnosing failed systems, supporting backup environments, and providing infrastructure support for live production or athletics-related operations.
Previous experience working within an athletics department, broadcast production environment, or other event-driven technology operation.
