Job Summary

 

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Helps with hiring, training, and evaluating all tutors and mentors, onboarding for temporary employees and approving TIME through the University payroll system.
• Serves as primary point of contact for all prospective and active tutors and mentors and performs duties such as answering phones and email and delivering messages and mail.
• Works closely with the advising and learning services staff to match tutors and academic mentors with student-athletes based on availability, need, learning, and teaching style.
• Tracks missed tutoring sessions and submitting reports of charges to the Business Office.
• Utilizes departmental software system for tutor appointment scheduling and tutor session reports.
• Reaches out to various constituents of campus and local community to solicit tutors from different backgrounds.
• Regularly communicates the progress, outcomes, and direction of work to the Director of Educational Enrichment.
• Perform duties in compliance with NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institutional policies and standards for athletics and university eligibility.
• Performs other duties such as attending a front desk, answering phones and email, and delivering messages and mail.
• Aids program participants, stakeholders, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information, providing documentation, and preparing reports. 

General Responsibilities

• Assists with administrative needs related to the daily operations, planning, and implementation of the student-athlete tutorial program. 
• Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross-departmental student programming, providing information, securing space reservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
• Greets students and/or program participants; may assist with program check-in and check-out. Provides directions, support, and information to program participants.
• Assists with daily scheduling, training, and gathering program feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts, presentations, or other program materials.
• May assist with ordering or creation of promotional materials to encourage student-athlete participation. 
• May provide guidance to other Student Programming Coordinators.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. 

 

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 2 years in office environment, higher education, or a related field

Working Conditions / Demands

 

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
