The Women’s Basketball Head Coach will be a positive, energetic leader with the ability to reach, motivate and recruit student-athletes. The Head Coach is responsible for coordinating all aspects of a NCAA Division I women’s basketball program including, but not limited to, managing day-to-day operations; recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; practice and game day preparation and coaching; budget management; hiring and supervising assistant coaches; assisting with fundraising and adherence to NCAA, Mountain West Conference and University/CSU rules; and developing positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media, alumni and donors while interacting successfully with department personnel and the University community.

• Knowledge of current coaching methodology
• Advanced knowledge and experience in managing an intercollegiate sport team that includes exercising independent discretion and judgement
• Ability to assist in the management of operational and grand-in-aid budgets
• Knowledge and understanding of the collegiate model of intercollegiate athletics
• Knowledge of an proficiency in University, NCAA and Mountain West Conference rules and regulations
• Ability to analyze situations and develop solutions
• Ability to act as a mentor
• Willingness and ability to participate in fundraising, revenue development, and budget development
• Experience in organizing and motivating student athletes for maximum performance levels
• Ability to work, communicate and develop rapport with students, alumni, administration and community groups
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods
• Ability to travel frequently throughout the year
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License
• Ability to hire, train, evaluate and supervise employees

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or equivalent professional experience in related field
• College basketball coaching and/or professional playing experience or equivalent

License

A valid driver's license is required for this position. Out of state candidates selected for the position must obtain a State of California driver's license within 10 days of hire in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.

Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.

• Demonstrated coaching and recruiting experience and success at the college or professional level
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
• Demonstrated commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes

Compensation

Classification: Administrator IV
Anticipated Hiring Range: $20,563/month
CSU Salary Range: $10,106/month - $32,441/month

The final hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
