Job Description

Position Summary: The Equipment/Operations Manager (Full-Time position) is responsible for managing all equipment-related duties pertaining to the LIU Women’s Ice Hockey Team and will report directly to the Head Coach. Duties include managing and creating equipment/apparel order(s), laundry, maintenance and repair of athletic equipment & apparel, inventory of athletic equipment, distribution and fitting of equipment and apparel, assisting with equipment inspection and reconditioning and assisting with team meal orders/snacks at home and on away trips.

Responsibilities: 

  • Daily practice set up (towels, jerseys, socks, loops, sport drinks, water, etc.) 
  • Pre-practice skate sharpening, equipment repairs (sewing, etc.) and equipment modifications 
  • Pre-practice bench set up: water bottles, coaches board, tape, sticks, cones, etc. 
  • Post-practice skate sharpening, equipment repairs, equipment modification, equipment replacement, equipment cleaning, and laundry 
  • All general housekeeping duties for the locker room 
  • Game day set up: home team dressing room, visitors dressing room, and referees’ room (in accordance with league rules) 
  • Lead communication prior to road trips with opponent’s rink admin and/or equipment manager to ensure we are prepared prior to making the trip 
  • On road trips, coordinate with bus driver for personal transportation to/from the rink in order to execute locker room duties while on the road 
  • Develop/maintain contacts within the league for the purpose of becoming familiar with arena regulations and set up 
  • Manage in-season and post-season inventory of all hockey equipment, supplies, apparel, etc. 
  • Keep and maintain effective and accurate records of equipment/apparel ordered; all final orders through vendors may only be placed by the Head Coach 
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning up team meals and snacks
