The University of Montana invites applications for a Women’s Soccer Head Coach for UM Grizzly Athletics. As head coach you are to instruct, guide and teach college women’s soccer student-athletes in the various skills, processes, philosophies and plans associated with the soccer. You are also expected to conduct an appropriate number of public relations, recruiting, and development work for the program.

Athletic Department employees and those University employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct oneself as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote an atmosphere for compliance within the program supervised by the coach and to monitor the activities regarding compliance of all assistant coaches and other administrators involved with the program who report directly or indirectly to the coach (NCAA Bylaw 11.1.2.1)
  • Promote the team, program, and University in a professional manner at all times, while promoting positive and productive working relationships with other staff members
  • Plan and implement a sound pre-season training program in coordination with the strength and conditioning staff
  • Plan for all team practices to maximize time, effort, safety and skill
  • Develop a balanced and challenging competition schedule
  • Monitor and encourage the academic progress of student-athletes, culminating in their graduation
  • Provide for the physical and mental safety and welfare of team members at all times
  • Work with the athletic trainers to assure all team members have had physical exams and their athletic training needs have been met
  • Prepare yearly team budget and equipment requests in conjunction with appropriate staff
